Giouvetsi Recipe (Greek Beef stew with Orzo pasta)



  • 1/2 cup. 1/4 cup. 1/2 cup. 1 tsp 500 g. IMG_5800



    • In a deep skillet heat the olive oil and saute the meat for about 8-10 minutes.
    • Add the vegetables, onion, garlic and carrots and let them draw their own perfumes.
    • Add wine, sugar and cinnamon.
    • Add the diced tomatoes and 1 liter water.
    • Let it for 1 hour.
    • Towards the end, add salt and pepper.
    • In a pan, heat the olive oil and add the pasta
    • Pour it into a pan.
    • On top put the meat and drizzle with the sauce.
    • The sauce should cover the pasta.
    • If it evaporates during boiling add hot water over the pasta.
    • Bake in preheated oven at 170°C for 40 minutes.
    • Ten minutes before removing from the oven add the cheese cut into cubes.
